Hazardous atmosphere: An atmosphere which
by reason of being explosive, flammable, poisonous, corrosive, oxidizing,
irritating, oxygen deficient, toxic, or otherwise harmful, may cause death,
illness, or injury.
Hazardous substance: A substance which, by
reason of being explosive, flammable, poisonous, corrosive, oxidizing,
irritating, or otherwise harmful, is likely to cause death or injury.
Hole: A gap or void 2 inches (5.1 cm) or
more in its least dimension, in a floor, roof, or other walking/working surface.
Hoist: A manual or power-operated
mechanical device to raise or lower a suspended scaffold.
Home: A dwelling and its premises within
the property lines including single-family dwellings and apartment houses,
duplex dwellings, boarding and rooming houses, and seasonal cottages. Excluded
from Home are barracks, dormitories, and resident institutions.
Hot Work Use of open flames, other heat
sources and/or spark producing devices in areas where combustible materials may
be or do exist. Where there is potential for explosion or fire.
